COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: Appalachian Cannabis Company
1.) What are the ways in which ACC is addressing cannabis education in WV?
Our retail locations offer us a unique platform for educating the public on cannabis and cannabinoid therapy, as we work towards bridging the gap between the emerging cannabis industry, medical community, law enforcement community, and our local and state government entities. Over the last year, it has been our pleasure to serve as an experiential learning site, welcoming rotating groups of University pharmacy students into our storefronts to receive education and training on the intricacies of cannabinoid therapy. In addition to welcoming the medical community into our vertically integrated operations, Appalachian Cannabis Company has been invited to serve as an expert resource for the healthcare field, by holding informative presentations and question and answer sessions for Cabell Huntington Hospital and Palliative Care of Charleston, West Virginia. For the general public, we invite the community to join us for Coffee & Cannabis, a monthly open-forum seminar made possible through partnerships with local cafés such as the Daily Dose Café and Terra Café.
2.) What are the ways ACC is positively impacting the community?
Appalachian Cannabis Company is committed to utilizing our seed-to-sale knowledgebase and cannabis industry experience to foster positive growth amongst West Virginia healthcare and agricultural communities. As a vertically integrated company, pharmacy students are provided the opportunity to learn and inquire into all facets of production required to achieve final products, as well as variations in product formulations, testing procedures, proper dosing, client recommendations and testimonies. We hope to continue forward with and expand on opportunities that prepare future healthcare teams with knowledge and experience as it applies to the potential health benefits of cannabis and how it interacts with the endocannabinoid system. In terms of lending a hand to our local state farmers, Appalachian Cannabis Company strives to be a direct resource for those pursuing industrial hemp farming as a new cash crop opportunity, through offering farm consultation and guided direction through the process of applying for and obtaining necessary state licensure.
