Call for Participants: Study on Cannabis Use and Attitudes

                                                                           This project is being conducted by the Think Tank for Social Research on Cannabis in                                                                                   the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at WVU under the supervision of Dr. Katie                                                                             Corcoran, an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. If                                                                                 you decide to participate, you will be asked to take a brief confidential survey and                                                                                         participate in a focus group on zoom. Your participation in this project will take                                                                                             approximately 1.5 hours. You must be 18 years of age or older to participate. You will                                                                                   receive a $20.00 Visa gift card in compensation for your time at the conclusion of the                                                                                   focus group.

                                                                           Recording will take place for the duration of the focus group. These recordings will be                                                                                  transcribed and used as data to study cannabis use behaviors and attitudes by adult                                                                                   current or past users in West Virginia. The recordings will be kept in a locked office and                                                                               after three years the audio recordings will be destroyed.

                                                                           Your involvement in this project will be kept as confidential as legally possible. While no                                                                               identifying information will be gathered by the researchers, researchers cannot                                                                                             guarantee confidentiality from other persons participating in the focus groups. The                                                                                       researchers request that participants not to use their name for the duration of the focus                                                                                 group. All data will be reported in the aggregate. You will not be asked any questions                                                                                   that could lead back to your identity as a participant.

Your participation is completely voluntary. You may skip any question that you do not wish to answer and you may discontinue at any time. West Virginia University's Institutional Review Board approval of this project is on file.
